Deep dark color with a black core. Very intense on the nose, lots of dark fruit, cherries, sour cherries, blackberries, and blackcurrants stand out, also dominated by earthy herbal spices and freshness. Beautifully structured on the finish, ripe tannins are paired with fruity and spicy hints. Lots of freshness and fruit in the aftertaste, slightly mineral, lingers for an extremely long time. Very complex, constantly changing under the influence of air and revealing new facets. A real vineyard wine, complex with potential for more years.
The grapes for my Zweigelt Distelwiese were harvested and sorted by hand at the end of September. Arriving at the winery, the grapes are gently destemmed and transported by gravity. Fermented in open tanks in small batches and then left on the mash to gain structure and depth. Biological acid degradation and storage in small French oak barrels in the vaulted cellar for 2 years. Bottled at the beginning of December, it is now ready to be enjoyed.
